With his own money, my 11-year-old bought an Amazon Kindle today. At first, I discouraged such a costly purchase for no special occasion. But his father made a good point: why would we discourage reading? He was right. My son is an avid reader anyway and adding technology to books is only going to encourage more reading. So we allowed the purchase and even sprung for the protective case. He's already uploaded several free books and The Bible. I can't wait to get my hands on it while he's at school.
The Secret Garden beckons me...I'm trying very hard to hide my jealousy!
